fatigue

It has been a real whirlwind since I left for the land of the “silky delicacy with a stink problem”.  I came back few days short of CNY and was swallowed up into the ‘chaos’ of festivities. Therefore I had not much time to rest and so a week on and I’m feeling the effects. This was just as my travelling partner predicted.

I’m not a seasoned nor extremely fit backpacker so I am paying for it now. Payment is only acceptable in one lump sum; instalments and extensions are not available. Let me translate that last sentence for those who are less savvy in Lizzy lingua. Fatigue comes in one blow and no one can escape it nor delay it. Savvy now?

My overenthusiasm about the land of ‘moo moo noodles’ was my own krytonite. Wanting to see/do lots in my time there. Hike up the gorgeous mountains; zooming to the south; whizzing to the north. Conclusion: My tiredness = My doing. Heh…

If I were able to just travel and see the world like in the days of the Grand Tour, it would be pure blissful joy! :D Always wanted to do that. Many of us know and realise that sometimes dreams remain dreams but we can make parts of the big dream into reality. Commitments plus $$$ problems are some of the usual barriers that stand in the way of big dreams.

Really hoping to travel and backpack again in the same manner. It has been an experience and I would do it again in an instant. In the past, travels was always limited to tours, package deals, etc. I met many people on the road and we (travelling companion and myself) were ‘adopted’ by a local couple whom we booked a homestay with.

Never thought to go to this land of the ‘p****a moo juice’. I just jumped into the deep end and booked my seat aboard the plane. I learned how to swim better and sync with the place thus enjoying myself thoroughly. If the time does present an opportunity, I would go back there even if it’ll be on my own. There are other lands whom I have my sights and cross-hair on too.

I do apologise for the umpteenth time for not updating my blog for more than a fortnight now but please empathise with a fatigued Lizzy. I hope that I’d be able to refresh and charge forward with full strength again.

Till next time… :)

Hopefully soon.

But just not right away or now.

Be patient.

:P

Think Thought #7 – Tired

There are days when we are just plain tired. And there are days we’re super tired. But there are days when we’re just dog tired.

“A lot of people are tired around here, but I’m not sure they’re ready to lie down, stretch out and fall asleep.” Jim Jones

Soon we’ll all have to retire from something to another; be it work, interests or life. We retire on a daily basis when we retire to sleep. We need our luxurious, energizing sleep to ease our tired bodies for the next day’s onslaught. We need to have temporary retirements (termed short breaks) to rejuvenate our minds.

I think no matter what you do you go through stages when you play. There was a number of times when I didn’t do very well or was tired. It was too much to combine school and tennis altogether. Parents need to step in and say, take a little time off, do something fun.” Jana Novotna – Tennis Player

It does get tiresome to get back into the cyclical lives we lead. Things going around in circles day-in  and day-out without much change. We get mired into the soothing familiarity of routines. But do you realise that we are in dire need of a change? That little voice at the back of  your head crying out for that change. It’s tired of the daily drawl of being a drone.

“If you see a whole thing – it seems that it’s always beautiful. Planets, lives…. But close up a world’s all dirt and rocks. And day to day, life’s a hard job, you get tired, you lose the pattern.” Ursula K. Le Guin

At times, we sit down and wonder, “Why am I so tired?”. The true answer does not come easy that’s why it’s better to speak/tell someone how you feel. Surprisingly there are many who are willing to lend an ear to listen to the rant of the tired soul. One can do it with family, friends, colleagues, professionals like psychiatrists and even websites such as tired.com.

“All parts of the human body get tired eventually – except the tongue.” Konrad Adenauer

“Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired.” Mother Teresa

When you start to feel tired, do something out of the norm! It may make your day fun and happier once in a while. If something makes you tired all the time (but unhappy), try finding another alternative to get out of the tiresome routine.

I like to cook, but mostly Greek. When I am confused or tired, I think about what I can cook. It takes you away from everything, as you are thinking only of your dish.” Nana Mouskouri – Greek Singer

If you’re too tired, try letting someone help take the load off your tired shoulders for a while. Who would do that? A true concerned person would. :) Perhaps, your feeling tired is just your body/brain telling you to just kickback and relax for a while.

“Age is not measured by years. Nature does not equally distribute energy. Some people are born old and tired while others are going strong at seventy.” Dorothy Thompson

:) Have a good rest this weekend! :)
